It?s not easy being a teenager—nor is it easy being the parent of a teenager. You can make your child feel angry, hurt,or misunderstood by what you say without realizing it yourself. It is important to give your child the space he needs to grow while making him realize that you?ll still be there for him when he needs you.
Expect a lot from your child, just not everything.Except for health and safety problems, such as drug use or careless driving, consider everything else open to discussion,if your child is unwilling to discuss something, don?t insist he tell you what?s on his mind. The more you insist, the more likely that he?ll clam up.Instead, let him attempt to solve (解決) things by himself. At the same time, remind him that you?re always there for him if he seek advice or help.Show respect for your teenager?s privacy(隱私).Never read his mail or listen in on personal conversations.
Teach your teenager that the family phone is for the whole family. If your child talks on the family?s telephone for too long, tell him he can talk for 15 minutes, but then he must stay off the phone for at least an equal period of time. This frees up the line so that other family members can make and receive calls, teaches your teenager moderation(節(jié)制).Or if you are open to the idea, allow your teenager to have his own phone that he pays for with his own pocket money or a part?time job.
()31.The main purpose of the text is to tell parents.
A.how to get along with a teenager B.how to respect a teenager

B.Give him advice only when necessary.
C.Let him have his own telephone.

Last Friday a storm swept through two villages in the New Territories, destroying (摧毀) fourteen homes.Seven others were so badly damaged (破壞) that their owners had to leave them, and fifteen others had broken windows or broken roofs. One person was killed, several were badly hurt and taken to hospital, and a number of other people received smaller hurt.Altogether over two hundred people were homeless after the storm.

Mrs.Woo Mei Fong said that her husband had just left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children.
“There was no time to take anything,”she said,“A few minutes later, the roof came down.”

When a cat is frightened, its heart starts beating faster, its muscles get tense, and there are changes in the chemicals in its blood?stream. If the danger continues,it will defend itself,or it will run away as fast as possible.
Something like this also happens to people. When we are excited, angry, scared or aroused(沖動(dòng)) by others? emotions, our bodies go through many physical changes, all of which make us more alert(警惕的) and ready to react. We also get ready to defend ourselves or run.Human beings, however, have a problem that animals never face.If we give way to our feelings and let them take over,we can get into trouble.Have you ever said something in anger—or hit somebody—and regretted it later? Have you ever shouted at a teacher, told somebody you were lonely,or said you were in love, and then wished later you had kept your mouth shut? It isn?t always wise to express your feelings freely.
Does this mean that it?s smarter always to hide our feelings? No! If you keep your feelings of anger, sadness, and bitterness hidden away or bottled up(掩飾) inside, your body stays tense.Physical illnesses can develop, and you can feel disturbed badly inside. It can actually be bad for your health.
You can try to treat emotions as if they were bananas in the cupboard. You can hide them and you can pretend they don?t exist, but they?ll still be around. And at last you?ll have to deal with them, just like those bananas.
()39.By taking a cat as an example, the author wants to show us that
A.animals can?t control their feelings
B.people can?t control their feelings
C.people?s physical reactions are like those of animals in a way
D.people?s bodies go through many physical changes in certain situations, too
()40.It?s mentioned in the text that human beings get into trouble because
A.we are not as alert as animals
B.we sometimes can?t control our feelings
C.we always do something wrong to other people
D.we don?t pay attention to our physical changes
()41.The author wants to tell us in the last two paragraphs that.
A.there?s no way to deal with our feelings
B.we should put some bananas in the cupboard when we?re angry or scared
C.feelings will gradually disappear when we hold them in
D.we should neither express our feelings freely nor hide the bad feelings inside
()42.The author?s purpose of writing this article is to.
A.tell us that it?s pretty good to keep our feelings inside
B.give some advice on how to express our feelings freely
C.make us deal with our feelings in a wise way
D.make us know it isn?t always good to express our feelings freely

Hi,Grown?up,
As a student of your age,I understand your situation. The problem you are facing is common among our teenagers. However,it should be wise not to do anything that may hurt your mom?s feelings. Here are a few suggestions.
First,it?s advisable to talk more with your mom.I learnt that to talk help you understand each other better. They are also opportunities to let her know your ideas of and attitudes toward many things.
Second, you should learn to do your own things well, proving to your mom that you are already a “grown?up”.It?s even better if you could share more of the housework, such as cleaning, washing and cooking.
